No matter how handy you are there is nothing like having the assistance of a professional during an emergency. If you know where your main shutoff valve is, turn it off immediately and then call the plumber. There is no shame in asking for help. If you do call a plumber, be sure to ask for references before accepting his bid on your leaky faucet repairs.
